Real Options for Adults With Disabilities

While the BGCO is most well-known for providing services to the community’s youth, we also have a unique and groundbreaking program, Real Options for Adults with Disabilities (R.O.A.D.s).

Established in 2012, in partnership with the San Diego Regional Center, the mission of the R.O.A.D.s program is to enhance the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities by creating options which foster individual growth in all areas of their lives.   The program was developed to fill a pressing need for meaningful daytime enrichment activities for developmentally disabled adults in North County San Diego.

“We believe with adequate support, a person with a disability can be an active and productive individual within their community and can learn to make appropriate lifestyle choices; develop communication, social, and vocational skills; and explore life’s challenges through the skills that they learn.”

This community based day program for adults with disabilities will focus on skills and activities that lead to increased independence in the home, at school, on the job, and in the community. We work with the individuals to develop a plan that will accomplish the individual’s unique ambitions and goals and provide a satisfying experience throughout our partnership.

The ROAD’s Program of North County San Diego strives to become a strong presence in our community known for serving the life skills development needs for adults that have an intellectual or developmental disability. We have created a mission to enhance the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities by creating real options to learn and grow and be involved within our community. The ROADs program provides support to the participant to master practical community and social skills including self advocacy, development of values  and problem solving skills.
